THE PONDS

Roof water in, life moves in — fruit trees drink what the ponds don’t keep

The loop, up close

Water comes off the roofs into catchment, then into the ponds. Excess pond plants and fertilized fish-and-pond water go onto the fruit trees. Rain becomes storage; storage becomes habitat; habitat becomes fertility.

The Farm page is the whole regenerative system. This page is the water in the middle — duckweed carpets, ti plants, ferns, fish at feeding time, a cat watching the edge.

We built the ponds into the pāhoehoe. A whole little world moved in — floating plants, purple blossoms on the water, dragonflies, fish that come up for food. An orange cat sits the bank like it owns the place.

River days — Wailuku, waterfalls, dogs on the stones — live on the River page. That water is off-property. These ponds are home.

People ask

How do the ponds connect to the farm?

Roof → ponds → excess plants and fertilized pond water onto fruit trees. See Farm for the full loop.

Is this the same as the River page?

No. Ponds are on the FlashTown property. River is Wailuku and other off-property river days.
